“What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins
and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!”
UM Hymnal, Words by Joseph M. Scriven,
ca. 1855
"He tends his flock like a shepherd: He
gathers the lambs in his arms
and carries them close to his heart..."
Isaiah 40:11 NIV
"And when the people gather, there's singing
and there's praying; there's laughing and there's crying sometimes,
all of it saying: I am the church! You are the church! We are the church
together! All who follow Jesus all around the world--Yes, we're the
church together."
UM Hymnal, Words by Richard K.
Avery and Donald S. Marsh, 1972

Pastor Joan routinely makes Hospital
Visits to Grace Church members and offers prayer before surgery.
Members are regularly visited during hospital stays. Please contact
Grace Church when a member is hospitalized or facing upcoming surgery.
(The hospital does not contact the church, due to privacy laws!)

| Pastor Joan visits Grace Church members who are
Home Bound or residents of nursing
care facilities. They receive Caring visits and regularly receive
the sacrament of Holy Communion. |
| Grace Church provides an active Prayer
Chain. Congregants can request a prayer for themselves or a
loved one by filling out a prayer card during Worship in the Sanctuary,
by sending an email to the prayer chain, or by calling the church
office. You select where your request goes: Announcing it to the Congregation,
For the Pastor Only, Pass along thru the email/telephone prayer chain,
and List the name under Prayer Concerns in the bulletin. (I assume
the underlined prayer chain will be a link to the prayer chain email.)
|
 |
| The Prayer Concerns listed in the
weekly bulletin are usually also listed in the monthly newsletter,
“Grace Notes”. They are listed for one month in the
bulletin as well as one month in “Grace Notes.” |

| Sixteen Shepherds currently serve
at Grace Church. Their mission is fulfilled in the following ways:
Welcome You - as a first time
visitor to Grace Church, you will receive a small gift and an invitation
to join us for Coffee Fellowship (During the Winter Worship schedule
– September thru May). If you desire, a Shepherd will escort
you.
Keep in Contact with You -
approximately four times a year, the Shepherds will contact Grace
Church members in their area to keep them updated on happenings
at the church. These calls are not only informative, but serve as
a means of strengthening relationships within the church family.
Shepherds will also periodically contact our college students through
the school year to assure them of our thoughts and prayers.
Pray with You
- when a member submits a prayer card request on Sunday morning,
the member’s Shepherd is notified of the prayer request and
will contact the member by phone or mail with an assurance of prayer
support.
Care for You - Shepherds are
asked to contact those in their area who may have concerns or health
problems and offer their assistance in whatever way possible.
Should you decide to pursue membership at Grace Church, Shepherds
will attend the last “On the Porch” class to meet those
new members in their area. The Shepherd acts as a “Sponsor”
for the new members and will welcome them on behalf of the congregation
as they join the Grace Church family. |
| |
|
Everyone, including visitors, is invited to “Join Us”
for Coffee Fellowship each Sunday
in Fellowship Hall immediately following the 10:15 a.m. Worship
service during the Winter Worship Schedule. |
 |
| Hostesses provide light refreshments to enjoy with
coffee or juice. It‘s a great opportunity to renew acquaintances,
meet new church family, and to welcome guests. Please plan to make
this event a part of your Sunday morning at Grace Church.
We’ll look forward to seeing you there!

Taste of Grace is held in September
to celebrate the kick-off of Sunday School and to welcome and introduce
our Worship by the Water visitors to Grace Church.
Everyone gathers under the big top in our side yard, lots of good
eats, games for the kids, tours of the church, explanations of activities
and growing in faith opportunities.
